Acceptable Use Policy

Scope

This Policy sets out the standards of conduct you must observe when using the Services, covering the API, bulk download, MCP and the Site. You are responsible for ensuring that your authorised users, and any third party acting on your behalf, comply with it as well.

Prohibited conduct

When accessing and using the Services, you must not, and must not permit your users or any third party to:

• Unlawful purposes: including without limitation fraud, impersonation, the promotion of illegal goods or services, or any conduct that breaches applicable law.
• Infringing the rights of others: including infringing or misusing intellectual property rights, harassment, or distributing unlawful content.
• Exceeding your entitlement or circumventing limits: access beyond your plan entitlement; circumventing or attempting to circumvent rate limits, entitlements, billing or security mechanisms; or using automation to create accounts, extract data or issue requests at volume in order to evade those limits.
• Redistribution beyond a dataset’s licence: sharing, reselling or redistributing data beyond what each dataset’s licence permits. Where redistribution is made under a government open-data licence, attribution is mandatory (naming the source agency and origin).
• Removing source or licence markings: removing, obscuring or altering source, knowledge_date, licence or attribution markings in data or documentation.
• Sublicensing or transferring the Services: renting, lending or reselling access, or otherwise making the Services available to an unauthorised third party.
• Building a competing product: using the Services or our confidential information to develop a substantially similar or competing product or service.
• Compromising system security: damaging or attempting to damage the security or integrity of the Services or anyone else’s systems and networks, or attempting to gain unauthorised access to the Services or related systems.
• Misrepresenting the nature of the data: presenting the data as investment advice, or making warranties as to its accuracy or completeness that we have not made.

You may benchmark the Services, provided that any publicly disclosed results are accompanied by the information necessary for others to reproduce that benchmark.

Data licensing and attribution

Most of the core datasets provided through the Services are made available under Taiwan’s Open Government Data License and other open licences, and may be redistributed within the scope of those licences, provided that attribution is given. The licence status and redistribution conditions of each dataset are as set out on the Data Sources & Licensing page; you should confirm the applicable licence yourself before reusing the data.

Notice of intellectual property infringement

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe that content made available through the Services infringes your rights, you may notify us through “Contact us” on the Site, providing information sufficient to identify the content and the basis of your rights; we will handle the matter in accordance with applicable law.

Consequences of breach

A breach of this Policy is a material breach of the Agreement. If we reasonably believe that you or your users have breached this Policy, we may restrict, suspend or terminate your access to the Services immediately upon notice, except where the Agreement provides otherwise.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The updated version is published at /legal and takes effect when posted.
